AW13-14 Launch - Florence Pitti Uomo

12th September 2013
Mark / Giusti showcased the 2013-2014 Autumn/Winter collections at the Pitti Uomo 83 in Florence. This exhibition was held at the biannual trade show Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy. The event is known as the most important international platform for launching men’s clothing and accessories collections because it is the place where next season’s trends are discovered.

We showcased the Romanza, Countryside, and Gatsby Collections the Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 season at the exhibition in Florence. Each product was displayed to show the range of colors and how the products all fit together. During the exhibition potential buyers were able to interact with the product and actually feel the quality of our products.

The colorful Romanza Collection was inspired by Mark Farhat, the creative director of Mark / Giusti, last trip to Rome, Italy. “Rome is the perfect city for a romance. There is something that makes you fall in love with it.” The interior lining of the Romanza collection is a mosaic interpretation of the Basillica di San Lorenzo Fuori Le Mura (The Papal Basillica of Saint Lawrence outside the Walls).

The Countryside Collection including hues of rich chocolate brown and black. The entire collection features products with front buckle pockets meant to take on a weekend getaway to the countryside, hence the name of the collection. The interior lining in the Countryside collection is inspired from the original mosaic decorations in the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, Italy dating back to the 13th century A.D.

The last collection Mark / Giusti featured in Florence was the Gatsby Collection. This collection was inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel The Great Gatsby, which explores the life of luxury through elaborate costumes for women and perfectly tailored suits for men of the “Roaring 20s”. The key colors in this collection include a palette of fresh white, black, and burgundy, all of which are featured in the lining of the Gatsby Collection. In this collection we expanded our product offering to include bow ties, ties, and pocket squares made exclusively of our sateen mosaic lining.

All of the products that were showcased at Pitti Uomo 83 are now available on our online boutique.

History Of Lining

The interior lining has been inspired by original mosaic decorations found in the Basilica Di San Marco, in Venice which was built in the 11th century AD. The decorations in particular are marble floor mosaics at one of the entrances of the Basilica. This classical type of geometric pattern is widely common in that era and it has been spotted in different areas of the basilica in different sizes and colors.
