What Makes MARK / GIUSTI Different: The Pillars Behind Our World

What Makes MARK / GIUSTI Different: The Pillars Behind Our World

When people discover MARK / GIUSTI for the first time, they often feel that what they are looking at is somehow different.

The mosaic details. The colour combinations. The craftsmanship. The soul.

That difference is intentional.

MARK / GIUSTI was founded in 2009 with a simple yet profound vision: to create unique, treasured pieces that carry meaning, protect mosaic heritage, and support communities. From the very beginning, I knew I did not want to create just another commercial fashion brand with a large logo. I wanted every bag and accessory to tell a story , one that honours the artisans of the past, celebrates the skills of the present, and inspires the generations to come.

For nearly two decades, I have approached this world with the same belief: true luxury should not feel generic, rushed, or interchangeable. It should feel distinctive, personal, and rare. It should carry depth, identity, and authenticity.

That is why our pieces were never meant for the mainstream market. They were created for those searching for something with soul ,  something artistic, thoughtful, and not easily found elsewhere.

Those who know, know.

Many of the people who find us do so through word of mouth, through trusted recommendations, or by seeing one of our pieces carried by someone else and asking where it came from. Over the years, that quiet reputation has meant more to me than noise ever could. Our quality, our consistency, and the care behind what we do have always spoken louder than trends. People come to us from around the world because they are looking for something they cannot find in the logo-driven mainstream market — pieces with rarity, character, and real craftsmanship.

These are the pillars behind our world.

1. Artistic masterpieces, not ordinary accessories

I have always believed that the objects we carry should feel meaningful. Not just useful, not just beautiful, but deeply considered.

At MARK / GIUSTI, our pieces are conceived as artistic masterpieces , rare creations shaped by original mosaic art, exclusive materials, distinctive colour tones, and exceptional attention to detail. They are not designed to blend in with what is already everywhere. They are designed to stand apart from it.

We live in a time when so much of the market feels repetitive. The same shapes, the same codes, the same ideas reproduced again and again. I wanted to create something different , pieces that feel as though they belong to their own world. Pieces that cannot be mistaken for anyone else’s.

For me, true luxury is not noise. It is intention. It is depth. It is the feeling that what you are holding could not have come from anywhere else.

That is why many of our creations are made in limited quantities, with rare combinations and a strong sense of identity. They are designed to be treasured, lived with, and carried for years. They are not ordinary accessories. They are artistic masterpieces with soul.

2. Protecting cultural heritage through mosaic art

At the heart of MARK / GIUSTI is a profound respect for mosaic art and the cultural memory it holds.

This passion began early in my life, following my father ,  an ambassador and passionate collector, through antique markets and auctions. Those intricate patterns became a lifelong fascination, and today they live on through our signature embossed mosaic leather, printed natural linings, and architectural details.

Our patterns are not decorative for decoration’s sake. They come from research, emotion, and a desire to preserve beauty that has already survived centuries. Through our signature mosaic leathers and exclusive prints, we reinterpret these historic references in a contemporary way, allowing them to live again through objects made for modern life.

I have always loved the idea that someone can carry not only a bag, but a story. A fragment of history. A piece of mosaic art. A conversation between past and present.

This is one of the things that makes MARK / GIUSTI truly unique. Very few brands are built around the preservation and reinterpretation of mosaic heritage in this way. It is part of what gives our work its emotional and visual identity.

3. Preserving craftsmanship and honouring Italian artisans

Craftsmanship is not a trend for us. It is the soul of what we do.

From the beginning, I felt strongly that producing in Italy and supporting artisans was not only the right choice aesthetically, but an ethical one too. We work exclusively with Italian artisans, many in their third or fourth generation, and we have proudly produced 100% in Italy for years.

When craftsmanship disappears, something essential disappears with it: knowledge, dignity, precision, and soul.

This is why preserving artisanal know-how remains one of our most important responsibilities. Not simply as a business choice, but as a cultural one.

The quality of a piece is never accidental. It comes from time, from expertise, and from hands that understand material and form in a way that cannot be industrialised. Nothing is bought off the shelf. Every component is developed with intention, from linings and vegetable tanned solid and signature mosaic leathers to finishes, exclusive colours, and details made specifically for MARK / GIUSTI.

That is what people feel when they touch our work. And that is why they come back.

I can also proudly say that we are probably the rare luxury brands with a live artisan workshop inside our flagship, creating bags and accessories in full view for everyone to see. We have nothing to hide. We are proud of what we do and want people to experience it, learn from it, and connect with it.

4. Protecting the planet through responsible design and longevity

For me, sustainability has never been a buzzword. It is something I live by. It is deeply personal and rooted in how I see the world.

It begins with respect ,  for the earth, for the materials we use, and for the people behind each creation.

MARK / GIUSTI was born from the idea of making something meaningful , something that lasts. I began with bespoke pieces, crafting bags to be cherished, passed down, loved, and repaired. Even today, we produce in small, intentional runs because we believe in making only what is needed. No waste. No excess. Just thoughtful design.

Since 2011, we have used recycled paper for packaging and natural linings such as hemp, bamboo, and linen , long before sustainability became fashionable language. We have fully transitioned to vegetable-tanned leather, made using natural tannins from trees like oak and chestnut, avoiding harmful chemicals and supporting a healthier relationship between material, maker, and planet.

We also made the conscious decision not to produce or print anything new until all in-house materials were used. That was not always the easiest path, but it was the right one. Responsible design, to me, is not only about how something is made, but about how long it is loved.

The most sustainable piece is often the one that stays with you , a piece you continue to wear because it still feels relevant, beautiful, and well made years later.

Luxury should never be disposable.

5. Supporting communities, independent voices, and meaningful change

MARK / GIUSTI has always been about more than products alone.

It is about creating a wider world around those products,  one rooted in dialogue, care, generosity, and shared purpose. Through our creative hub, our collaborations, our charity work, and the communities we support, we try to use the platform we have built to create visibility and opportunity for others too.

This includes supporting emerging and independent creatives, especially those whose work carries strong cultural, artistic, or artisanal value. It includes creating bridges between disciplines, backgrounds, and geographies. It includes understanding that design can be both beautiful and socially meaningful.

Since the beginning of the brand, we have supported a different charity each year. More recently, we launched the Love Abundance Initiative, a platform bringing together acts of kindness and community care, supporting mental health, education, and the environment.

To me, the future of luxury must be more generous. More conscious. More connected.

6. Customisation and personal connection

Another part of what makes MARK / GIUSTI special is the possibility of customisation and personalisation.

In a world of mass production, personalisation brings intimacy back into the object. It turns something beautiful into something personal. Something chosen not just for how it looks, but for what it means.

Through our My M/G service, clients can personalise pieces through initials, leathers, linings, stitching, personal messages, and even private commissions. In some cases, this extends to one-of-a-kind creations and bespoke interiors carrying our signature mosaic patterns.

Whether it is a bag, a gift, or a private project, customisation allows a piece to become more closely tied to the person living with it. It transforms a purchase into something uniquely yours.

That emotional connection matters. It is often what people remember most.

7. Experience, not transaction

At the heart of MARK / GIUSTI is also a belief that luxury should be experienced, not simply purchased.

Our flagship and creative hub in Milan is called “This Is Not a Store” because it is so much more than retail. It is a home for the brand , a place where people come to connect, discover, experience craftsmanship firsthand, and step fully into our world.

Guests can come for an aperitivo, browse artwork, discover new designers, shop our pieces, and watch artisans at work. From curated music and scent to the original 1800 liberty flooring and Kintsugi-inspired detailing on the walls, every element has been designed to create a multi-sensory experience rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and hospitality.

That same philosophy extends beyond the physical space. Our online boutique is designed to feel personal, immersive, and high-touch, with direct communication and aftercare that mirror the in-store experience. Through our omnichannel approach, we aim to offer the same warmth, knowledge, and personal service whether someone meets us online, by email, through social media, at a pop-up, or in person in Milan.

We treat every guest as if they are visiting our home. We listen, we share stories, and we want them to leave not just with a product, but with something personal, meaningful, and made to last.

8. Building a world, not just a brand

MARK / GIUSTI has never been only about bags. It has always been about creating a world.

A world where fashion speaks with interiors. Where heritage meets innovation. Where craftsmanship, art, hospitality, and community coexist. This is why our universe now extends into lifestyle, interiors, hospitality, bespoke projects, and immersive experiences through Casa Giusti and our creative hub.

Ultimately, my ambition has always been for MARK / GIUSTI to become not just something you carry, but something you live with. A lifestyle. An attitude. A way of moving through the world with greater beauty, intention, and meaning.

A world built on values

When I think about what makes MARK / GIUSTI different, I do not think of one element alone.

I think of the balance between heritage and innovation. Between beauty and responsibility. Between craftsmanship and cultural storytelling. Between rarity and relevance. Between individuality and community.

I think of pieces that are not available everywhere. Pieces that are discovered, sought out, and remembered. Pieces that carry the quiet confidence of quality. Pieces that people return to, recommend, and speak about because they have truly lived with them.

This brand was never built to follow trends or chase volume. It was built to tell stories, preserve artisanal skills, and create pieces that carry meaning.

At its heart, MARK / GIUSTI is about uniqueness over mass. It is about timeless artistic masterpieces with soul,  pieces that you can live with, treasure, and pass on.

That is our world.
And that is what we will continue to build, protect, and share.

Love, light, and kindness,
Mark Farhat Giusti
